  • Chains?

    How tight should the chains be? How do you check this? They feel fairly tight to the touch.

    if you grab the chain between the sprockets, you should have a total of 1 inch deflection, 1/2 up, 1/2 down from center. check it with the tires off the ground, as it may have the part of the chain you can grab in a bind with it on the ground

        Doesn't 1 inch seem kinda loose? I've alwasy heard of 1/4 to 1/2 inch total. Just wondrin'.
        It's all just nuts and bolts.

          Make sure that you keep turning the wheels while you are checking chain tension. You may find a spot where the chain is too tight.

                is that a loose half inch like you can jiggle with a pinky, or a tight half inch like starting to draw a bow? I guess how much play you see depends on how hard you push/pull...
