  • Got a pop

I recently got my max 4 back up and running after it has been sitting for a year. Got it running great. Had to replace some axle bearings, belt, and clean the carb. It runs better than it ever has. I took it out last weekend and really put it through some stuff. It did awesome. Drove it home and parked it the night, then a few days later I got off work and wanted to go for a ride. I crunk it up put it in forward, pulled back on the right stick to turn right and when the left side wheels start turning I have a really bad popping noise coming from the left rear of the machine. No popping when I turn left. I jacked all the wheels up checked all my chain and sprockets . Everything appears ok, all the chains are tight. There is no popping at all when I run it in the air, just when there is pressure from turning on the ground. Any ideas on how to figure out what is making this noise. Can't drive it til I find it. Thanks any help is greatly appreciated

If the popping sounds seem "metalic" in nature, one possibility is to check if the mounting bolts holding the T-20 are still good. There are four at the bottom.
My T-20 had two broken bolts, causing the T-20 to "twist" under driving pressure, making a primary chain pop on a few sprocket teeth, as if the chain was trying to slip off the sprocket. Just a possibility, eh?

Check to see if the axle is sliding in and out of the body. Broken collars on bearings will allow the sprockets to come out of alignment when turning.
