  • Bent axle, buy new or make.

The front right axle on my early 70's max ii is bent with about a half inch deflection, this is the hollow axle with bolt on sprocket and bushings, looking at the price of a new axle I can order enough 4130 1-1/4" solid chromoly bar stock for all 6 axles shipped for less than one axle, I can make the plates for mounting rims and don't mind the bolted sprockets, upgrade to inner bearings and should be good, any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike

If you have the ability, think you've answered your own question.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

I salvage the flanges of old axles. Make sure you order turned and polished 4130 or 4140 or it may not slide through a bearing.
