what would cause the drive clutch to move in & out sideways on the T20 transmission?

Input shaft endplay. A really tight one has about .015 inch movement. If it has more than .070” endplay measured with a dial indicator it should come apart. The thrust washers or center support may be getting worn past useful life. I’ve had lots of people tell me there T20 has 1/8” or more endplay. When they put a dial indicator on it it’s .030”. if it has no endplay at all something is really wrong. -
Thank you for the info, I put a dial on it and it measured .030, but when it's running it sure looks like a lot more then .030 . It looks as though it dances back and forth quite a bit .Comment
