Engine Bolt Patterns Question

Hello,

I have a 1989 Max II with a Tecumseh OH 160 in it. I want to upgrade to an 18 hp Vanguard, and was wondering if the engine bolt pattern on the Vanguard is the same as the OH 160, or if I will have to drill some new holes to install the newer engine?

mounting specs i found for 18 hp briggs vanguard are 7.68 x 4.o2 inches . maybe you can measure your tecumseh mount holes and then check the max 2 mount plate to see if you have room if need to drill new holes. remember the mount needs to be slotted for belt tightening if need be and lined up for the clutches . hope this helps , johnboy va.

that the exact motor I had in mine the 16 hp vanguard bolted right in.i hsd to make a new wiring harness is pretty much it
