  • Buying Max II

I'm looking to get a Max II tonight. I called the manufacturer and they said it is a 1991 from the serial number. It has a 2018 predator 670cc motor in it with new tires and wheels. Right now I got it down to $2,000. Does this seem like a fair deal? I don't know a ton about these. Anything in particular I should watch out for? Manufacturer said to check each axel to make sure they are not clunking around as that would mean bad bearings and other possible issues along with rusty chains meaning possible neglect of keeping them greased up properly.

he friend...not sure what you mean by manufacturer . is that a person or co. that's selling it ? anyway , lot's of guys have had great luck with the predator motor. the price sounds good depending on the condition . may need chains and bearings, which are not hard to replace depending on a persons mechanical smarts. how's the body and transmission and does it drive and shift and steer well ? just a few things to check , let us know ....lot's of good guidance on here for working on them and parts . johnboy va.

Nice, that sounds like a good deal. I picked mine up today. 1997 max2. For 1500 but needs 6 tires and throttle cable.

I sold my 76 max ii for 1500 but lost money on it. Since everything except the body was new or rebuilt. Hollow axle with inner bushing machine. The guy ended up having to make another motor mount but otherwise I guess he has a good time with it, the last I heard from him he painted it lime green and was hooking up a stereo in it.

I ended up getting it. I'm pretty sure it has the solid axles and all of the bearings have been replaced. Looks like chains are fairly new. The wiring has all been re-done with new wire. It has been driving nice and who ever had it before the gentleman I bought it from, put some work into it.
