  • Will a Max2 float or sink?

A speed boat wake washed over my Kayak this morning and it sunk. I had to swim about 30 yds to my buddy's dock. The nose stayed up and we were able to use his pontoon to drag it back to my dock.
No more kayaking without a life vest!!!

In case of a hull breach or whatever,,,will the tires keep a Max 2 from sinking or should I build a buoy in case it goes down and I have to swim again???

I'm going to remove all the tires and break them down to make sure they have no water inn them just to be sure.

hey rick glad it all turned out o.k....life vest is a good idea. my first thought without really knowing is that a max 2 would'nt completely sink unless all tires were full of water , which is unlikely . it seems like it would take a ocean wave or a large boat wake to actually flip the machine over and even then i would think the tires would keep it afloat.good idea on checking for water in the tires . if it's just water with no mud or sand it may all drain out the valve stem if it's at 6 oclock position and remove the air valve . one of my tires was pretty full of muddy , silty water ..so the tire had to come off the rim . good luck , johnboy va.

The old style 3 bolt flotation tires will support 100 pounds each. 26" tall with 12" rim tires such as on the Max IV should support 120 pounds each
So if a machine weighs less than 600 pounds the tires will keep it from slipping bellow the surface of water, otherwise it can sink.
