  • A question about bearing flanges

To seal, or not to seal.....THAT is the question.

Do the two flange halves get sealed in between to keep grease from puking out while greasing? or put them together naked?
I do put sealant between the flange and the tub.
Just thought about this while cleaning bearings and axles.
    Thoughts? Questions? Answers?

I smeared grease on both halves and tightened them down even on my max, it only pushed out around the bearing seal if I pumped it too much. The guy that had it now says it does great in the water, which surprised me since it had duro stryker knock off tires.

also , if your bearing has a little hole in the race part , i believe that always should line up with the zert fitting to get some grease in the bearing . j.b.

I smear rtv gasket sealer between the flange halves to seal out water. Rope caulk between tub and flange set. Squirt marine grease the next day after it all dries.
