I’d this sun gear on the correct way or does it need to be flopped. I see notches in the gear, are they supposed to be up or down. In the pic they are down. And yes I know I have to put the washer in there. That’s why there is a gap. I just didn’t do that yet.

I’ve found them both ways on tear down. I believe you have it correct in pic. Slide pin drum on and place a planet gear with washer and see if it runs on the original wear path. I have no clue what the notches in the sun gear are for. Not all have them.

Ok, why don’t some have them. I looked on 6x6 parts.com and the ones they had for sale had not grooves. It’s weird

I don't know why that groove is there either. I guess there is a remote possibility that gear is used in some other application where the groove matters. In the few T20's I have worked on I haven't bothered which way the groove was pointed.
