Wow, that's a really nice machine for FREE! You can call Recreatives with your serial number to find out what year it is. Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511 What are the plans for this machine? It has some serious potential. Now you officially own your very own AATV!"Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

my early 75 max serial is 4714 so its at least a 1975they changed the lower tubs somewhere around 75,76 to the current style (no push outs around the front tires) so i think you have a late 75!
hmmm now i gotta check with ri myself to see if im close!!!!!!!
they dont call me mad because im angry!!!!! im just a little crazy thats all!!!!

Thanks! I am really excited about the potential of this AATV. I think it was a great find. The person who gave it to me said it was running fine, but he decided to tune up the engine. He took the engine out to work on it, but never got around to it. I plan to fix it for hunting mostly, but will be using it for recreation as well. I'm trying to decide if I should put a new engine in it, or restore the Rockwell JLO L295L? I'm leaning towards a 4 stroke... Any suggestions? I'm also thinking about new tires, some of the originals aren't holding air, probably because of dry rot. Does anyone have an old manual laying around? Thanks again!

I too have a free maxii. Mine was a handmedown from my dad. I was lucky enough to get one that has the motor still intact and it runs great. I had to clean the tank, carb, and put a new fuel line and fuel filter on it but it runs great. I would suggest a 16HP Briggs & Stratton Vangard. That motor makes my max run great. I know I can run 30 mph easy.

Maximus, that's great. I think I will have to scrap the old JLO engine. Seems to be seized up right now. Just put a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil in it to see if we can get it turning. Any idea on price for a new/used 16 hp briggs vanguard? Is there anything we need to do to convert the Max to the briggs?

Well, I personally like the fast and light 2-strokes, but if your hunting or fishing, you may appreciate a quieter 4-stroke. (OK, much quieter) Also 2-strokes need more attention, if your used to it, no big deal. But if you want to go Deep into the woods, you'll probably want it to come back without you needing to twist wrenches (Or needle valves). I would personally think at least 16hp, but 24 sure would be nice
