  • Need some advise on 1980 max IV

So.....as you know i bought a 1980 max IV where im going to put the supercub kholer comand in but i would like to have this engine sit as low as possible. So im thinking to move the T-20 as far forward as possible but as you can see in the picture i have the big disc brakes just behind the middle axle. So these have to move as far forward as possible but theres not much space to do so....

Now i thinking of removing the square shape construction above the discs and then move these about 5 cm ( 2 inch ) then move the T-20 all the way up and almost on top of these disc brakes...about 20 cm ( 7 a 8 inch ) so i create some room behind the T-20 ( all the way back ) to put the engine in.

Another thing is that this max has four sticks....two for steering i gues and two for the brakes....is this factory or did someone made it this way ?

Overall do my plans make sense or are there things to consider that could give problems ?

I run a modified RIM (similar to Max IV) for racing and it has a 2 stroke engine that is just moved in front of the T20. The older RIM's/Max IV have the center disk emergency brakes. Mine are just removed. You could possibly find a way to convert to the newer Max IV set up with emergency brakes on the front axle and foot pedal. The other 2 sticks are for forward/reverse and the emergency brake. Moving the T20 forward could require a bit more work involving re-routing chains, sprockets and mounting.

That box on top of brake discs is not stock, if it is secure enough you could use that as a starting point and mount engine there. He advised that the table is there, in part, for clutch clearance and a body modification will most likely occur.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
      Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.
