  • Throttle cable

Well I was going to use my MaxII to duck hunt this morning. I was going to use it to carry my decoys and bust the ice. Oh yeah, ICE! It was 17 degrees this morning. I found put this morning that 17 degrees and factory throttle cables don't like one another. With that being said, dies anyone know where I can get a replacement throttle cable without paying an arm and a leg for it? Thanks on advance.

Did it break on you or was it just frozen? If it was just frozen you can thaw it out and then put some antifreeze in the jacket of the cable to help prevent that from happening again on cold days.

I am pretty sure it broke. Wish I had thought about that last night. LOL

I know you want to save a penny, don't we all? But if it is that cold on a regular basis I would order a heated throttle cable from Recreatives. If not that, go to Your Nationwide Max ATV Dealer - New and Used Max and Argo Amphibious 6x6 ATVs - Sales, Service, Parts They have cables for like $37 bucks or so. Also they have a kit that runs a shorter cable for easier throttle action. I ordered it and should be here tomorrow. I'll let you know how it works out.

I got the new throttle cable from RI, It is way shorter, runs up by the battery to the front of the motor. Real clean install. Took about 10 min to replace. I didn't notice the throttle pull being much easier.

No it's not normally this cold. In fact the high for tomorrow is 55 and the low is 32. Just out of curorsity, how much do you think a heated cable would cost? I am sure the short replacement that you spoke of earlier would be sufficient but I would like to know my options before I purchase a new cable.

I think Richard has a heated cable for 65 bucks. I paid 37 for the regular one.

Is there anything special about the Max throttle cables or will any old lawn tractor throttle cable work?

The ends. I ran into that problem, There is a piece soldered on the engine side that allows adjustment (without trashing the cable) I used a bike brake lever and bike cable for months until I finally broke down and bought the new throttle handle and cable.
