  • Trolling Motor Wiring

I have the front mount fabricated on my Max II, and a trolling motor will be in my hands next week.

How have you guys wired the trolling motor? I thought about setting something up using the stock battery, but don't want to run it down while using the trolling motor and end up with a dead battery when I need to fire up the Max and drive out of the marsh.

I am toying with the idea of placing a separate battery in the cargo area and strapping it in a battery box to the cargo rail or roll bar, but don't really like that idea. I can't find a good place inside to place a second battery, either.

What has worked for you guys?

Hey Bud, I wired mine directly to my battery. If you set in a second battery, how will you charge it when your using it? My battery gets it charge from the running motor. The stator charges it as the motor runs. I guess you could make a second battery mount but you would need to make it accessable so you could recharge it at days end.

One thing you could do is put in a remote battery terminal like the following.

Painless Remote Battery Junction Terminal Kit - JEGS
JEGS Quick Release Charging Lugs - JEGS
