I just wanted to pass along some pictures of my bilge pump setup and other recent mods to my Max II and also invite any Flickr users out there to join a Max group I just started on that site. Photos are below and the link to the Flickr group is Flickr: Max 6x6 Amphibious ATV's. I am still looking to build a rear rack so if anyone has a good design they would mind sharing I would appreciate the advice.

More mod pictures and explinations
The bilge pump is glued to a piece of scrap stainless steel and bolted to the frame. I plumbed it up to a bulk head fitting (stock tank fitting) from TSC. The toggles, power port, terminal connections, and fuse panel came from Advance auto. The light in the center is actually a back up light but I hadn't put in the clear lens yet (just used a red one I had laying around to cut out the hole). The backup light really puts out a broad flood with the clear lens and you can pop it out and use it as a trouble light is you need to work under the body. The black box mounted to the body is the winch controller. It is the only electrical component not running through the fuse panel now (it is on a 40A auto breaker). I also ran 8ga wire to the fuse box and over to the power point and terminal connectors so I a can put a battery tender on the terminal post on the dash and not have to remove the seat to get to the battery. I've been chicken to cut my floorboard in half.sigpic
Almost as good as my pack horses but a lot easier to feed and catch.

Awesome work! Thanks for posting this, as I'm trying to figure out how I want to do a bilge pump, too.
What kind of bilge pump is that? Is it automatic or manual operation?Check out my new YouTube channel, TWANGnBANG.

The bilge pump is a 500GPH from walmart ($17). It is not automatic, it is hooked to a toggle on the dash. I didn't know how a float switch would work on the max due to it bouncing around. It uses a 3/4" hose so it should clear out water pretty good.sigpic

Hi:
Nice work, very clean install!. Just to answer the questions on the float switch. I have an automatic Pump and have had no problems. I'm sure is has come on for a split second on harsh bounces, but since it's an all in one the float is covered. If anyone is installing a float, I'd go for a covered switch so it's not jammed by debris, draining the battery. I also have a 3-P switch, so I can bypass the switch to turn the pump on, so a failure in a time of need doesn't sink meAttex 295 Wild Wolf: sigpic My Runner

You can get nice water-resistant ones from boat supply stores. I took mine (Along with the pump) off my old boat. It's probably 20+ years old, in a marine environment, but contacts are fine.Attex 295 Wild Wolf: sigpic My Runner
