  • Steering in Max II with a Passenger

    Hello

I've had my Max II about 2 months now but have only been able to take it out 3 or 4 times due to snow depth. Today I had a beautiful time on some mountain trails where I live riding on snowmobile trails.

Here's my question. When I'm riding with my wife I have a hard time pulling the left stick all the way back because my left elbow isn't flush with the stick. This is with my two legs on the left side of the sticks. I tried one leg straddling sticks but my wife didn't like this much since my knee was poking her. It doesn't help that I'm about 6 feet tall and about 225 pounds.

How do you guys cope with this problem when riding with a passenger. I can pull the left stick back somewhat for slight steering adjustments but can't easily pull it all the way back. Alone, I'm fine because I ride centered with one leg on each side of the sticks.

I am 6'2", 220, so I hear where you are coming from.

I either straddle the sticks and lean toward the left of the machine to give my passenger as much room as I can, or sit on the right side and let my passenger drive. I simply can't fit both legs on the left of the sticks and drive.

Would a mod like this one from route6x6 help?

        Hello

I looked at that tonight. Does anyone out there have one of these and do you like it?

I don't have a max 2 or a mod like that but it probably wouldn’t be too hard to make a mock up of it to see if you like it.

I know this thread is ancient but I'm currently having the same exact problem. I have a different modification in mind than the one that was suggested to the OP. There was a link provided that showed a picture of a left steering stick that was modified into a large upside down u shape that appears to go over the driver's legs. That's a great idea but I was thinking about offsetting the steering sticks enough to center them in a more traditional drivers side position without changing the factory starting position at the floor. I haven't measured or laid this out so maybe the geometry just isnt there idk but just eyeballing it I think it is. Has anyone ever tried this or seen it done before?? Thanks Cup

maybe try coming left off the lower part of the left stick 90 degrees as far as needed and then up to the right height . leave the original left stick in place . just a thought . johnboy va.
