  • Max II axle bearings. Where to buy??

I am restoring my newly bought used 93 Max II. I want to replace all of my bearings and seals or whats needed. I have read a thread that route 6x6 bearings are poor quality? $24.00 for bearing and seal. Can anyone please help me on the part #'s and where I can buy the bearings and seals at? Thanks for all the help and support.

I don't know about the quality but before I bought from him I would order directly from the factory. Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511

If you are looking for a better deal, jpswift1 always talks about getting bearings from Buffalo Bearings: Buffalo Bearings Inc.

Also you can probably find them local to you.

Those bearings from Route6x6 are indeed poor quality and I have heard from quite a few folks that have had experienced premature failure. Recreatives or Buffalo Bearing would be your best bet.

What size bearing do I need? And where do I get that seal or gasket?

What seal/gasket are you talking about? The paper gasket between the flanges?

It looks like rubber to me, but yes its round and between I would assume is the flanges. Mike if I was to order my bearings through buffalo. What do I say or do you have a part number? Thank you

I don't have a part number. I just ordered mine direct from the factory. They knew what I needed based on the year model / serial number. Just take your bearings out and use the number on there to order from Buffalo Bearings if you go that route. They will be able to match it up. If you can't see the number then just mic the bearings to get an I.D. , O.D., and thickness. Most bearing places will be able to match it up based on the dimensions.

As for the seal, I'm not sure I understand what you are referring to. Have you looked at this article on bearing / axle replacement: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/gener...placement.html

Maybe tell me which picture you are referring to there?

I bought my bearings from MARYLAND METRICS. They are the same bearings that Buffalo bearing will sell you, for over half the price. I figured if I'm going for the cheap chinese bearings I may as well find the cheapest place to get them, and that's who I found. TR is the bearing brand.

Here is the TR website, where you can lookup the part number for the bearings you need.

I was hoping that someone after purchasing a bearing would remember how they ordered it. Possibly they are different bearings per year? I dont want to pull my bearing until I have my new ones. I will go through route 6x6 probably this first time for hassle sake. Then I can cross refrence the bearing. And I dont know if someone else possibly added this but between the round flange and the tub there is a round gasket, most likely to help it seal better. Another thought was a waterproof bearing? Sorry if I am being a pain in the @ss. I am new and full of questions.

Your '93 Max II takes the 62mm bearing. That's the outside diameter. Just call Buffalo Bearings as recommended above. Tell them you need the 62mm bearing for a six wheeler and they'll know what you are talking about.
I recommend using RTV blue gasket maker between the bearing flanges and between the body and flanges.

62mm I will order tomorrow. Thank you. I was thinking of using some marine grade caulking like the 5200. It might seal the flanges for good though. Thanks again.

The factory uses 3m strip caulk between the flange and the body. I used this on my Max II with no leaks this last time but the best part is that it is easier to work with. I have used the silicone in the past and it works fine as well, just a little messier.

If you use silicone, and you have a caulking gun, buy silicone rubber at a home improvement store. Much cheaper.
