How many RIM owners are out there? I am kind of looking into getting one. I found some pics of some of the forums, which then I realized that the RIM is the "father" of the Max IV. What are the differences in the two?? Any apparent troubles with these? I ask because I haven't been able to find any info on them.

The RIM was a carbon copy of the early Max IV, and I believe the only difference was the color of a brown tub and yellowish/brown upper body. There is a whole story behind the development involving Howard Gerber (yep, the same gentleman that worked with Attex) but I'll let someone that knows more of the details of it chime in on the topic."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

Hydromike and I followed each other two years ago along the mountainous trails of the Humphrey, NY riding area and George is absoultely right, his RIM is reliable, very tough, and very fast for a big machine. That G50B really moves it along! Also, I think Don has one two. Maybe these guys can tell us more about them. You can see just the tail end of the RIM in this shot.

Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.
(6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

I'm not an owner necessarily but, I'm probably going to put up a buch of cash for a "racing restoration". Sort of like an adopt a child by mail. It's starting out like this:
Hoping my dad will have enough time and energy to get it back to looking like this for Ashatbula (I only have 1.5 days in PA before heading up to Pine Lake to help).
Not a family friendly version of the RIM or even close to a stock setup but, It looks pretty cool.

Went and look at it.
I went yesterday after work to take a look. I think this guy didn't know what he had, but knew just enough to think he had a gold mine. I believe it was a Max IV, because it had a red upper. I had to pass it up for now, the lower body was in very very poor shape. Plus the guy was a "wheeler and dealer" which made it really hard to negotiate.
Thanks for the info.
Until next time.

I was away from the computer for a day, but just wanted to chime in that I LOVE my RIM! I was lucky enough to find a machine that was really unmolested. I added a front and rear skid plate from RI, which really stiffens up the front and rear of the machine (not that it needed it). I love the G50B, I love the T-20. What else is there to say? I don't drive mine as much as I'd like to, but with the snow off the ground, I plan on spending a lot more time behind the sticks.sigpic
