max want swim

I took my maxll out for my first test ride,not too good,The first water hole i went in,it swimed very slow and hard to keep it straight.Then the left side quiet pulling in reverse.I got futher on back in a very swampy area and the chain on the right side of the transmission broke.Now i only have power to the left wheels,So now it is getting dark,not too good,We end up hooking two 4 wheelers to it and drug it out about two miles,It has new rawhidelll tires,The v pattern on the tires are facing to the back,Could this be my problem with it swimming.

The v needs to work like a scoop. So point of v is facing back on top of tire and forward on ground.
