  • MaxII Strengthened axels

Has anyone ever put another 3/4inch pipe inside the older hollow axels to beef them up a bit?
I’m doing a rebuild of all bearings and chains, I have pressed all my Axels straight now with new 12 ton press I bought on sale for $150.oo.. Well worth the price as I now have all straight axels again for $150.oo.
I really don’t see why I can’t insert a pipe to make them as strong as new solids..
    Any feedback?

It sure sounds like a good idea. I think one of the guys up at Recreatives mentioned this trick to me not too long ago. I know they said it worked perfectly and it certainly did strengthen up the axles.

I wish I knew that last year when I had everything apart. Thats a cool trick. Fortunately I didn't bend anything on my first good test run yesterday.
