  • Does this sound right to you guys? Carb question...

I recently overhauled my Max IV... new chains, new back axels, new bearings, new piston head and rigs, oil chanige, gaskets, plugs .
Machine sat for a while (all winter under tarp). While getting it back set up I have the carb tuned so that it is one step faster than I was used to so it can never quite idle. Result: I cruise at about 5mph even when skidding 6' logs just by holding both sticks forward (no throttle). If I squeeze the throttle... BLAST OFF AT 35 mph. I really like it better than having to squeeze the throttle to move at all. It feels way more responsive.

Went mud swimming and everything with no issues, pulled logs for hours also.

Is this wrong to do to your carb, or will it hurt my rig or anything?
I ride a brown '96 Max 4 (skid plate, roll cage, 26" Rawhides, 20hp, custom winch and tow plates) with a 2K front winch and a 4K come-along for back up. I pack 20'tow-strap, 2 chains and 2 hooks,a jeep jack, and a big block of PT wood. Also an axe and chainsaw. And mechanic tools. I have a tote with a tarp and bungees. Spare parts. Two rifles. Hey, arent I supposed to be able to have three passengers?

How do you go getting it in and out of gear? Does it grind much?

No problems there. I pull back on the steering sticks when I want to shift in to F and push them forward when I want to be in R (while shifting).

        Clutch

It may seem good but with the engine at a high idle, you clutch is constantly engaged. This will eventially burn the belt down and may bevel the clutch surface. A little expensive to repair.
        Still want a KID
