  • Darn thats Hot!!!

has anyone ever tried to wrap the muffler with insulation? My max II (2002) run very VERY HOT! Is there something wrong? Would wrapping the muffler help, hurt anything?

what about scoops on the sides to force air in? Still thinking of wrapping the muffler. The dip stick was so hot i could not hold it. Does not seem right. I'm guessing over half of the heat id coming from the muffler.

i would do an oil cooler and maybe an electric fan that should cool it down substantially.

I have used header wrap on my 4 wheeler, worked great,Only problem is it sweats and holds water causing the exhaust to rust very quickly. When you first put it on it will smoke like it's on fire for a short period of time.

Don't touch it! We've had a Conquest and an Avenger, one air cooled, one water cooled, the muffler gets just as hot (well at least seems just as hot). The fact it is so in your face probably makes you more aware of it then say your automobile exhaust system.
I would leave it as is. It's designed to get hot.

I have a Max II 2008 it is really hot. I put a electric radiator fan over the engine access to blow the hot air in in the winter to warm it up more, but the air volume was to much and it cooled it off. If I reverse the fan and it will suck the hot air out for summer use it should work great. No more hot seat. I'll
try it an let you know.
