  • maxII track install?

so i figured i'd throw the tracks on my new maxII this weekend and flatten all the fragmite grass out behind my house this weekend!
as some of you know i just bought the used 6x and it came with tracks...my question is....how to put them on? i'm sure i can get them on there but i figured lots of you have been there..done that! any helpful hints?
do i deflate tires? take one tire off then put it back on with the tracks on?
fyi...i was plowing through the grass this weekend (which is about 15' tall and had my little max basically tail walking through it!) it was a blast but i need the tracks to really get the job done!
maybe ill try and gets some pics this weekend when i show that grass who's boss!

I would call RI. They can probably email you the instructions.

      Tracks

Tracks have a pin in the link that will drive out with a hammer and punch after you remove the set screw. The Argo tracks (Plastic) have a pin in each track section and the set screw is in the middle in a collor that comes off the rod. The rubber tracks have a connector link that is bolted os fused to the belt. Not sure which track you have but it will be something on this line.

Use tire inflation to loosen and tighten track tension when they are fitted. Carefull not to overinflate tires though.

Good luck and have fun. Tracks Rule!!!!

          max tracks

The max tracks do not come apart, you have to deflate all of your tires, leave the core out of your valve stemms. You then roll the track on to your tires.

I knew some types didn't come apart but the ones I had on the Conquest dit. My nest set (comming soon) are solid one piece with chevron tread, sort of like Matt O's mud ox runs.

I have tracks as well and at first declared they can't be put on. I contacted "Hey Dan" of this forum and RI and he had the trick.Remove valve stems, with a jury rigged adapter on the shop vac suck all the air out until the tire collapses with each of four sides completely flat, then re-install stems to keep atmospheric pressure from re-inflating to a round shape again. Then remove middle wheels.Put track on one wheel completely and walk" it on the other one much like installing a v-belt.Then re-install middle wheels and inflate tires.Assuming you have a modern Max II with "K" rims inflate to 3 psi or a bit more......One more thing.remove front drive chains they are not required to drive the tracks, let the back two axles do that, now you have the front axle free wheeling like an idler to chase slack or excess track around if tires are not the precise same diameter or if a tire distorts shape some climbing over an object. This will give you much more power, but it will spark a huge debate.LOL
Trust me on removing the front chains it came from a man who works for RI.Try not to skid steer hard on bare or dry surfaces as itwill scuff the tracks.I believe the tracks are intended for snow or swamp use.Good Luck!
