John, this topic came up a while back in the Attex thread that Jeff started here: Dually 12 Wheeler It's not exactly the same as what you are asking but there are some good points made in there so you may want to check it out.

I don't have any personal experience with the adapters nor have I even ever seen any in person but I think that the negative aspects of the dual wheels probably outweigh the positive things if you are looking at it logically. I guess on the positive side you get better flotation on all surfaces (mud, water, sand, snow) since you have a lighter footprint. If you are out in the open, in the water a lot, or mainly in the snow that would be great

But if you are riding through the woods or on some quad trails then you already know how tight some of those are. Just imagine being 1.5 feet wider and trying to fit. Also, you have more strain on the drive train from the bearings to the clutch.

But like Whipper said in that other thread, you would definitely get the ooooohhhs and ahhhhs from everybody and if that wasn't you main machine then I would definitely go for it just for that reason alone.

I guess in the end it would mainly be dependent upon what you are going to use your Max for and what kind of riding you do. Having another AATV would make the choice a lot easier too. I guess the good thing about the adapters. If you don't like them, you can always take them off and sell them.

Just my opinion, I think it's a waste of time and money. Spend it on a BIG MOTOR. You'll never regret it. Then you can catch some air and join us all on the wall of fame.

A local guy has two old 70's argo's with the 16 wheel conversion. Uses it for his business subcontracting with the power company. He says that it's great in mud and water, but causes premature failure of the bearings!!! The extended width causes excessive pressure! Take that from me I'm running 2" wheel spacers on my jeep, and it eats a set of hub bearings yearly! I know that's not an aatv, but same principle applies.
