Smoke, this has been discussed many times on the forum. Here are a couple of links for seats for your max. I put the tractor suspension seat in the middle my max. I am still able to have two people behind me. The seat is on sliding rails so you can move it back a strength yours legs.

i moved my seat back 6" and then put padded seating on the tub sides after removing the rear seat ,i removed the factory floor board and cut a sheet of plywood to fit the floor around the battery ,one word of caution is if the people in the rear seats are big adults then you will need to build a frame to hold the side seats off the edge of the tub ,i did not do this and sometimes the tires/tracks rub on the tub
He who has not cruised the back country in a 6x6 , has not lived life to it's fullest A Mans level of mechanical education directly corresponds to the level pain suffered while getting it

Thanks for the TSC links. I saved them several months ago. Finally got my gov't refund and ordered the higher end Kodiac seat last weekend. It arrived yesterday. I just need some time to get the measurements for the C-channel adapters and seat base and I am on my way to deluxe riding comfort!!
I'm even looking into the Corbeau Baja Bench seat to replace the stock rear unit. They come in 36" & 42" widths. Need to check back there and see if it's feasible, but I'll wait until the front solo suspension seat is installed before taking the plunge. Sure would be the bee's knees if both front and back were spring! Too bad Recreatives doesn't offer this at least as a factory upgrade option.
Well, after taking some measurements I found that the Corbeau Baja seat would be too deep (20") and kill most of the leg room. Too bad, the rest of the dimensions would make for a pretty comfy fit. If only their seat was 46" x 24" x 14" it would be perfect. Dang! Guess I'll keep looking. Maybe I can find a pair of 24" wide seats that I could shoehorn into the back that have a fairly short seat depth (12"-14"). Either that or go the custom route if I really want it bad enough, or perhaps pay to have an existing seat modified. Nahhhhh... The stock bench will have to work - for now. Better things to do with what little tax money Uncle Sam sent back to me.
Now I need make another trip to TSC and pick up some of that conveyor belt material. (Wasn't that what you and Mike both used on your mud flaps?) I just have to be sure to get the measurements right and include enough extra length to allow me to custom cut a section of the material to function as wraparound rear mud flap that I can install on my Rokon!
Hey man i just moved my back seat in my MaxIV back 4 inches ,,,i took out the bolts that hold it in and then i took off the back cover that covers the motor ,,then i took the seat a slid it back to where i wanted about 4 inches .Then i drill the new holes for the bolts then i put the seat back in .Then here comes the tricky part you will have to modify the cover that covers the motor ,,its not that hard to do once you get started .Route 6x6 sales a cover that lets you move your seat back ,,just put the new cover on then put seat back in then drill the new holes and reinstall the seat..I took my floor panel and put it in front of a heater that blows and bent it to fit ,,mine turned out so good it looked like it came that way lol .Now my seat is back 4 inches and my floor panel looks like it should and my motor hood fits perfect ,,, this was easy to do ...when i took out my seat i went ahead and put a hinge and both sides of the seat so it would fold open to the front so i could get into the chains and work on them if i need to ..just a good idea to keep in mind if you need pics of this let me know and i will try to post some of this ...this is one of my modification that i made to mine and it really helped those who ride in the back ,,as far as my front seat goes i'm going to put me a Tractor seat in mine they sale them at Tractor Supply Company around 100.00 and they have built in suspension ,,,the one im putting in will be one with a slide so i can move it up and back to fit me ,,,hope this helps have fun with this
Max IV has a high out put heater, custom cab, windshield wiper, suspension seat, new hydraulic brakes ,cargo rack on the front ,,,and I'm loving every minute of this .
I think we are living parallel lives with the Max IV mods. I had to change the rear bearings after Busco, so I pulled the engine and rear seat. Upon inspection of the shifting mechanisms, I found the shifter handle cracked and almost broken. Good time to split the shifters! During the process, I decided to tighten up the linkages, like you did at the same time. Last night I went to put the back seat in and decided to move it back for leg room. I cut the angle right at the seat frame pipe to move it back until it almost hit the engine cradle mount. I moved mine back 5 1/2 inches. Engine cover mods will start tonight.
I already hinged my seat and installed a metal box under it. I may relocate the battery so I can keep the box under the seat.
Please post some pictures of your engine cover mods. I need inspiration!
[IMG][/IMG] This is a pic of the new seat ( mod) i dont know how i got the other 2 pics in the wrong place ,,, i hope Mike can help me fix it

I had to settle for only 4 inches of set back. The dipstick would hit the back seat and the engine cover would not work like I had intended. I'll post some pictures when I'm done. Years back, I replaced the wire mesh on my engine cover with aluminum sheet to keep the stuff out and cover the exhaust so the kids woould not burn themselves.
Here's the engine cover. I just cut it in the middle and overlapped the pieces. I could have done it better, but I want to ride, not work on my machine. I'll finish putting the grilles on the side and another panel on the top to hold my storage box.
Richard Clark has a new conversion with the trans under the back seat and the engine lowered. The rear seat also looks like it has more room. Route6x6.com 6x6 & ATV news
Gotta admit, it looks like Richard has been doing some mighty GOOD work updating the Max IV's power train interior area. Sweet that not only is the T-20 in front of the motor now, but the motor itself is centered in the body for better side-to-side balance. I really like that improved layout with engine-tranny-battery right in a row; great for service! Simple, clean engine set-up with the intake & heat ducting, too. I am curious about that "4-chain" set-up he mentions? Sounds interesting.
Now the scary question... how much will this "kit" cost us rubes?
his revolutionary 4 chain setup is just attex chain adjusters. in stock form there was a chain from the t-20 to the axle on each side , one from the rear to center axle, and one from the center to front axle. now it has a single chain from the t-20 to the rear and center axles, then one from the center to the front. look at most attex machines and you will see the 4 chain setup. here is an old thread discussing the differences in the setups http://www.6x6world.com/forums/attex...ex-models.html
