The tracks are the new (2003) all rubber,Thanks for the link. The guides are actually quite a fancy sculptured aluminum, very smooth edges. When I read your estimate of 80 guides I said there can't be that many but it was 31 per side per track.........31x4=124.
Don't make any final cuts in material prior to me getting my trcks installed as I want to take a closer look at the tracks to see if my measurement is the same with them on. I want to devise a more accurate way to measure. It would be quite critical to have measurement very close.
LOL Archibalds is the name of the manufacturer of my all weather protection canvas top for my Max II in the information it is listed as the supplier to RI and they are somewhere in Ontario.
It would be pointless though to approach them about making a top for a Max unless they have disassociated themselves with RI and even then they probably wouldn't do an order on a custom basis.I know those who make the tracks won't.
Would you be kind enough to post photos of how you attached your belting to the tire chains in your track design? I am having a very hard time getting my Max around feeding this winter and would like to build a set like you have. Did you simply wrap the belting around the chain (my belting my be too thick) and rivet it or do you have some type of fastener? Also, how thick is the belting you are using? Mine belting is easily available here but it is pretty thick (but tuff) stuff. Thanks so much.

Almost as good as my pack horses but a lot easier to feed and catch.
Hey guys with the homemade snowmobile tracks. Can ya'll post some close up pictures of the splices and a brief description. I am ready to cut my tracks and having issues on how I want to splice them.
Anyone know what size chains were used to make the amphicat tracks. they do not look that heavy but can not tell by the pictures. When i measured for the chain i taped a string around the tire where i wanted the tracks to ride and end to end i came up with 11ft 10 inches. so i figure ill get 50 ft of chain and cut it into 4 equal lenths. Then size to fit later when pads are installed.
