we are taught that little thingy when we are 6 or 7 yrs old up here in canada concidering we live with ice and snow about half our entire lives LOL, Good rules to know off by heart ,in fact would be a good rule for ALL children to know, helps keep our little ones aliveHe who has not cruised the back country in a 6x6 , has not lived life to it's fullest
A Mans level of mechanical education directly corresponds to the level pain suffered while getting it

traveling on ice
All ice is not equal. clear blue ice is stonger than white flood ice. Rivers, creeks, lakes that have currents can have extreme changes in ice thickness. These conditions are major concern early in the season when the difference of a couple of inches of ice can mean staying on top. To check ice mark 1 inch increments on the bar of your chainsaw. plunge the running saw straight down into the ice watching the marks when the saw starts pulling up water check the marks on the bar to varify ice depth.
