  • Plow Worth It?

so i sold my dunebuggy and now have the money to invest in either a plow or new tires SO here is my question is a plow really worth it? how much wear and tear does it put on the machine? are there any downsides to having a plow? how well does a max IV actually push snow? is there anyone who has a plow that can answer these questions or should i just spend the money on some new tires and keep it a strictly trail riding machine? ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

I've got a 76 inch plow that came with my MaxII,but I haven't used it other than to play with it.It has the 76 inch one instead of the 60 inch in order to be wider than the tracks. The reason I don't use it is because I have a 4x4 compact tractor and my yard is a bit complicted and requires a lot of forward reverse type work and the tractor's shuttle shift is much easier than perpetually reversing the Max.That said the plow works OK and it will move snow but in my opinion it clearly will add stress to the machine. Before I bought a factory plow kit for the Max(they are quite pricey) if it was me,for snow removal I would take that same amount of money(or less) and put it into a good quality snowblower and put a little cabin on the snowblower to protect you from blowing snow .Unless you have a really really long driveway then the snowblower might entail excessive walking. If you are in a region that gets a lot of snow,go with a good snowblower as the Max can only pile the snow up so high and the blower can make it the neighbours. LOL

Kind of a-horse-a-piece on the plow and tires. If you're not running tracks, you have to have tires with a good tread for snow. I have a 7ft plow on my t-boss, and it does ok on light (fluffy) snow. But poor on the wet heavy stuff. (I'm in Wisconsin) I have Terra Grip tires and that is what hinders the performance on the wet stuff. I considered a better (snow) tire tread, but I mainly use my machine for deer hunting in the woods, and my drive is only about 80 ft. The snowblower handles it fine. (I just hate moving snow!!)
It's all just nuts and bolts.

When I played with my plow last year I didn't have the tracks on and I believe it would be even better with tracks,it moved quite packy snow fine.It certainly is capable and if I had neither the tractor or a snowblower I would be mighty glad to have the plow on my Max.

I have been dragging my feet getting a plow too, the factory rig is soo pricey, but one main things I wanted the max for was to push snow. My yooper scooper was faster than a shovel last year, but it still took over an hour to do my drive by hand.

I let me know if you pull the trigger on that plow Country-C.
