Hello,
I looked at a 95 Max IV today. The owner claimed to have parked it in his shed 5 months ago, and it was running fine and he drove it there. He was asking $3,000.00 for it.
I went to look at it today. Battery was dead but it started with a booster pack that I brought.. Did not run good but ran. So it will need fresh gas, carb clean and general tune-up.
Drive chains are rusted and rotten, one snapped. Sprockets look good and chassis looks good. Hard to believe chains are as bad as they are when everything else looks real good in there.
Body and seats are good, one small tear in corner of upper body.
Lights all work. Ignition switch is broken but functions.
Transmission shifts hard into forward and does not shift into reverse ( I did pull back on the levers).
Engine is the B&S vanguard 16 HP.
I am sure this would be a project within my means. I used to do small engine repair and I have restored antique tractors and motorcycles. I currently operate a auto body shop.
In your educated opinions what would be a fair offer on a machine in this condition?
Thank you for your time!
kind regards, Ryan
