I'm looking at a 1999 Max IV. It has a 20 hp. Kohler.Was this a factory original for this year?Also the engine and muffler stick up through the top of the cover with mesh up to the engine and muffler.Is this normal or is something missing? It has 240 hours. any opinions on this model would be appreciated.

In 1999 was the Kohler air cooled engine in a Max IV a 20 or 25 horsepower? -
The half-ass mesh cover was factory standard for 1999. I think the 20 kohler was an option. Take a close look at the rear drive sprockets that are very hard to see with the engine in place. They used 2 seperate sprockets on each axle. You really want to have the one piece sprocket assemblies on the rear. Are there set screws or snap rings holding the sprockets in place?Comment
