  • Bearing Cages

    Hello,

I am probably going to start replacing bearings in the near future. My question is would it be worthwhile to install bearing cages at that time? I have looked at some of the pictures posted here and most show axle extenders also. Can I use the cages without the axle extensions? Also does this bearing cage incorporate a third bearing on the axle, I could not tell for sure from the pics.
    Thanks!

    Kind regards, Ryan

The bearing cages I am familar with for a max are bolted to the original bearing flange with the 3 bolts. Then they extend towards the wheel and is attached to another bearing closer to the hub. If there is any bend at all in the axle the cage will flex and bind the axle. Eventually breaking.

Side note...... Anyone looking at machines with the cages, if it has broken cages, then the axle is bent.
