This is what I have done so far a custom brush guard,3000 pound winch, split shifters, two off road lights, internol exhaust, and a 50amp alternator. Now with the alternator the light and winch dont run the battery down. Still have to seal the exhaust hole in the back. Next is a 25hp kohler and 25x12x9 tires and rear cargo rack

robertkbush,
I talked to Dan at Recreatives quite some time ago, and he told me that they had installed a 25 hp Kolier into a Max II. When I asked Dan how this was working out, he told me that the 25 hp, Kolier ran too hot underneath the cover of the Max II, so they later installed a water cooled Kawasaki instead. Dan told me that the water cooled Kawasaki was a much better engine choice for the Max II.

$300.00 for the kohler over $2000.00 for the kawasaki I would like to have that water cooled kawasaki but just dont have that kind of money right know and this oh16 needs to be replaced . I found two 25hp kohler both run goodLast edited by robertkbush; 03-25-2010, 05:30 PM.max2 with 3000lb winch, split shifter, off road lights, and 50 amp alternator

kawasaki offers 3 models suited to the Max , all 3 are liquid cooled and some of the others are air cooled
Kawasaki Engines and Power Products - Series - FD Series
the FD series seem to be the ones that Max use in their machines ,although i dont understand why they dont offer the 20Hp in the Max
i have the FD750 in one of mine and i found a little glitch in the units with these motors, make sure the wireing harness is tied up at the fuel pump pig tails ,the weight of the wireing harness over time pulls the pig tails out of the fuel pump ,and what a MAJOR hastel it is to track that one down ,the wire breaks inside the plastic covering ,hit one bump the fuel pump quits then hit another bump and it starts running again ,those are allways hard to diagnose ,and something the factory may want to addressLast edited by Robinhood02; 03-25-2010, 07:04 PM.He who has not cruised the back country in a 6x6 , has not lived life to it's fullest
