Ride quality between the II and IV?

I was curious if there was much a difference between the 2 maxs as far as ride quality. I am wondering if sitting forward in the IV makes a difference?

Hi Larry. There is a huge ride difference in between the Max II and the Max IV. The Max II is much more stable and nimble. Sitting so far forward on the IV and having the engine mounted high up, above the transmission makes it quite tipsy. I've owned both machines and this is from my first hand experience. Are you thinking about picking up a Max?

I'm only going by hear say but I have heard that to properly equip the Max IV needs 26 inch tires on 12 inch rims.The Max II with either 21 inch or 22 inch rides better,so I have heard.I have a Max II and I'm tempted to put 24 inch Argo Frontier tires on it.Very good ride and superb swimming but damned little clearance.I briefly drove a Max IV only once no rough terrain but it was nice,different experience than the Max II.

How about in the water? Does the larger tub of the IV float better? Do the larger tires propel it better?

Again hearsay only but I have read that with the 26 inch Terra Grips that the Max IV propels better in the water.

26" Goodyears and 21" Goodyears on a Max IV both move it very well in the water.......I think the 26's might be just a tad bit quicker. 21" Goodyears are the fastest factory tire for a Max II. The difference between the tires isn't all that different though, just think how much you use your machine in the water compared to on the land. Most of the water speed discussion that is talked about on all of these different threads can go in the direction of "beating a dead horse with a stick".
