  • changing the small chains in the rear of my Max IV

Ok guys i am going to tackle changing the chains coming off of the transmission ,,i will start by taking off the gas ,line and any other cables going to the motor .Next i will take out the 4 bolts that hold the stand that the motor sits on ,,then i will take off the belt ,,and lift the entire motor and stand out at the same time .Then i will check all the sprockets ,,and bearings ,,and the transmission ,, for any parts that needs replacement ...If i have left any thing out please do tell me ,,i am a green horn at this

Sounds like you have it down. I don't think you will have a problem and really after you get started it doesn't take long at all to get down to the chains.

Well its day 2 and i have taken the motor out and found out that the middle wheel is popping up and down on the left side .So i go to check it out and i find that the flange and the bolts are very lose and the lug nuts i could take of by hand ,,,so when i checked all the bearings they all seem to be in good shape .,,,,,buuuuuuuut all the axles have a good amount of play in them enough that they pop when i move the wheels forward .So i drilled them out for a bolt a little bigger than what was in them ,,,1/2 inch is what i drilled them ,, i hope that this does not make the axles week but if it does ,i will just have to fix them again .Then i went on to take out the bar that the shifts the max into reverse and forward ,,,it was bent about 3 inch in the middle .so i put it on a flat table and fixed it .Then i tighten up the band on the trans on the right side ..This is all what i have done today ,,,now i wait for the new chains to come in and put them on and i will be done for a bit ,,
