  • max II engine. to swap or not to swap

i have a maxII with an 18 hp Tecumseh electric start . i have a brand new 16hp Briggs vanguard with electric start and rope start I'm thinking of putting in. the 18 runs good but i think the 16 would run smoother I'm not looking for speed as much as where i can go.trying to get opinions to help in my decision.let me know what you think

If the Tecumseh runs good then I wouldn't touch it. Keep the 16HP Briggs and buy another 6x6 without an engine.

I would leave the Tecumseh in it and trade the vanguard for a multimobile! Maybe throw in a cat or the 4 wheeled attex in the barn. But thats just me. lol!!! Hint hint Please!, lol.

OK, you asked. Leave the Tecumseh in the machine. Find a old Attex and build a racer or another trail machine. Would make a great Father and Son project. Just my opinion. You know how these things become addictive.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

The Tecumseh is going to have gobs of low end torque, more than the 16HP Vanguard, but it isn't that easy to find parts for though. Both engines have their ups and downs, but I'd have to agree with everyone else and say keep the Tecumseh in there for now.
