  • home made engine conversion

Hey any of you cats ever did your own engine conversion from 2 stroke to four stroke? What about making wheel adapters to run 10" polaris or kawasaki 220 rims with 23" or 24" tires?

On the home page, upper left, click on "manuals" you wil find templates for 4 and 5 lug wheels. Here's an example http://www.6x6world.com/images/broch...ug-adapter.pdf I bought mine and had to modify them slightly (easy) . http://www.gokartnminibikeparts.com/wheel_hubs.htm the inner circle is too small, each hole needs to be slotted .125" Simple if you have access to a mill. For your engine conversion, what questions do you have?

What must be done to the mounting plate? Will a briggs bolt onto the plate that the rockwell bolts to or does it have to be modified and if so how?

I have done a few swaps and always have had to remake an engine plate. You will also need a clutch that will work with your engine.

Can the two strokes clutch be modified to work or do i just need to buy another clutch?

Normally the 2 stroke clutches us a tapered bore. I have heard of people taking the clutch to a machine shop and boring it out to a straight 1" bore. Then adding a key way. Then you will have to mess with the weights in the clutch so it will work better with the slower 4 stroke rpm.

You can buy adapters to use 30mm clutches on 25mm tapered shafts, 204799A - 25MM to 30MM Clutch Adapter,
but I've never seen adapters for 1" keyed shafts.
I would buy a new clutch instead of machining and changing weights. 206095A - Model 94 1" Bore 1 3/16 Belt or

                About that Duster clutch:
"NOTE: After Comet suddenly closed their doors last fall another US company purchased most of their production equipment and inventory. We have placed a huge order with them and they are aggressively ramping up production and have made some shipments to us, but most of the clutches and many parts are still in production and currently not available. We will send out Comet parts as soon as they become available based on customer's order date. Feel free to contact us for current availability."
There are 1" 4 stroke clutches available from places that do golf carts. I bought this one: CVTech 06 Clutch

Thanks for the information. I am supposed to go pick up another 6 wheeler saturday. I still have hope for a 4 stroke clutch on this machine. I dont know what it is but the word is we can go and pick it up for free. I picked up a hustler in november for free. It has 6 axles , a t-20, 4 tires an wheels and an aluminum gas tank. Woo hoo!
