Thanks mike. I haven't really put it through it's paces yet but with hunting season comming up, I'm going to see if it will go places my four wheeler wouldn't. I'm thinking one of my winter projects will be bearing cages so I can run some tracks. mike, any idea how hard it is to put bearing cages on?
Thanks Mike. I need to get a pic of it loaded up wtih decoys and all of the other hunting gear that we haul. You'd be surprised how much a Max II can carry with judicous use of tie downs and bungee cords.
The duct tape adapters for the sticks have to be the sexiest addition 'Uncle Herbert' made. He had it registered as a marine vessel up until 96 according to the paperwork... Did that tractor seat give a pleasant sensation at 50mph jp? Looks painful!!

That Max II buggy had a 440cc CCW 2 stroke snowmobile engine and it ran almost 45MPH and at high speeds it was soooooooo scary! No seat belt, no roll cage, and just two sticks steering you.
Finley had a chance to get on here and post a few pics. I picked this 1998 up last Memorial Day with only 90 hours on it! The max was stock like new condition with throttle heater and a 16 hp Briggs. As you can see I have been busy I have added a body band, winch, rear rack and my version of chain tensionor. The tensionor works very well but I have a better designed dreamed up that I will be trying. I have to add that this is a great site with a lot of good info and good looking machines!
Just a thought and by the way great looking machine. Replace the fuel lines and fuel filter before you get serious with the riding. Your fuel line is now going on 13 years old. I would replace it through out the machine from start to finish. These things start crumbling on the inside and plugs up the carb. Fuel line is a inexpensive item that will prevent a lot of problems.
Lot of good mods. Good luck with the new machine.
Note: Not being a small engine mechanic i did not realize that there are two types of fuel filters. One for gravity feed and one for fuel pump equipped engines. Found this out recently when i replaced my lawnmower fuel filter. So choose the right one. If this is not correct someone please clear this up. This is what i was told from the lawnmower mechanics and he said it made a difference.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"
1970 Max Previous owner made some body modifications... Main modification was throwing away the body lol
Don't think that one floats any more. lol
