Hey all! I'm working toward getting the title straightened out on my Max and I need to do a record check on it. It's never been titled so I know nothing will show, but I need to search for the right thing for the sake of having the right paperwork. SO, my question is are they titled as ATVs or boats? If any of you have your machine titled in MO that would be particularly helpful to know. Thanks!

Yeah, a lot of people don't title their ATVs but like Marshall said it really depends on where you live. Is MO making you title it or perhaps it's a requirement for public trail riding? I don't have mine titled but I do have it registered as a boat so I can legally be on public waters.

My Avenger is register also as a boat for the same reason as Mike.Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Well, in MO everything is supposed to be titled. You can't use a boat on public waters without having a titled and registered boat, motor, and trailer. As for atv's, they are supposed to have an ATV sticker that you can get when you title the machine. My main reason is that one day I may want to sell it and around here titles are somewhat expected for any motor vehicle.
The problem with mine is that it was never registered from the beginning, so I'm gonna have to work the system a bit to get it done.Joe

I'm in Virginia and no titles here, but I believe that Penn has some type of title requirement for its residents? I did have to register my ATV in Maryland to use their State Parks.
I too have been thinking about getting a title on mine, but I'v been told there are several services for that. Costs a bit but based on what I've see it might be worth it.

Fomocoguy, I'm in Ohio. I have my argo reg as an atv for land (red ohio shape on back of unit). I also, after a lot of effort and trips to ODNR Watercraft Div., have it reg as a boat for use on public waters.(green ohio shape on side of unit with hull id #'s) Don't recall what class at this moment but similar to that of an open small craft.(not a "personal watercraft"). 1 small snag though. I have access to Pymatuning Resivoir, however, PA. will NOT honor my ohio boat reg. due to some of their specifics regarding bilge area isolation and venting, total bummer as I am in this area frequently and would take full advantage of any oportunity to access the lake for numerous reasons. Wow, that's cool. I guess every state really is totally different in the way they handle these vehicles. I tried to call the Max dealer that is here in MO and ask them but they are out of commission for the moment.Joe
