  • CRPy CHAIN TENSIONERS

the tensions on my 94 max are the origanals, so you can imagine how good they do not work haha. where would be a good place to buy some good after market ones, or any ideas on building some? i have seen the ones on richards relics and i think 195 dollars is kind of high.

Call the factory direct. Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511

Assuming it is a Max II, if the teflon is the only thing that is worn you can just buy those so it's not as expensive. They come with the rivets you need as well. If the ratcheting part of the tensioners is worn or inoperable you may be able to fix that. It's a very simple system and once you have it off the Max it's easy to see what needs to be replaced. There is a how-to on the site here: How to replace your Chain Tensioners

What seems to be wrong with them? I have the ratcheting type on my Attex that is standard for the Max machine and they work great! There was a batch of tensioners that the dies were bad and so the tensioners would not stay put. I am curious as to what is wrong with yours.

Here is the style i am using.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

thanks to both of you guys, and yes my machine is a max ii, and it does have rachet tensioners. it just seem to be junk idk if you guys have seen the ones on richards relics but the tensioners are stationary which i think would be a better design then the factory ones. and one more questions for you guys how tight should the chains be they should not slide on the bottom should they?

You want to have the tires off the ground when adjusting the chains and have the machine in neutral. Then tighten the tensioners until you have 1/4" total deflection (1/8" up and 1/8" down)

ok thanks mike, so the chain though should not rub the tub at all? and i think i might build me some tensioners like the ones on richards relics they look simple to build. you know which ones im talking about right?

It may rub the tub depending on how you have it parked. It shouldn't constantly rub the tub though.

o ok thank you mine rubs alittle here and there on the bottom but there are no signs of it trying to rub through i might appoxy some teflon wear plate in the bottom of the tub just to make sure it never rubs
