  • Max IV and Max II at a "Mini Tractor Pull"

A local Fire Company in Woodland, PA hosted a "Mini Tractor Pull" put on by Allegheny Pullers (www.alleghenypullers.com) and my cousin who owns a 6x6 as well wanted to take them to see how they would pull.
I had the Max IV and pulled just over 1500lbs to 192ft. I had no idea how it would do, as i've never pulled anything with it before... I've never even been to one of these events, so I didn't know what to expect.
My cousin has the Max II and pulled about 160ft. A "Full Pull" is 200ft.

That was awesome! What a great idea and you did really well. What size motor is in your Max IV?

Sorry, when I clicked back on this thread I saw in large bold font where it said the engine size. I need to read more and talk less.

As we were leaving, one of the guys running a tractor in the pull said:
"You guys did pretty good. You might have done better if you let some air out of the tires."
I told him that there were probably only 3 psi in them. He couldn't believe it.

              Then he said:
"You know you got your tires on backwards??"

haha.. I had to explain to him that it helps paddle in water when they are like that.

I didn't think of that before hand.. I don't know if switching them around would have helped it do any better or not.

My Max IV was a lot heavier than I thought. I drove up on the scales, and with me in it, a full tank of gas, and a few pounds of tools, it weighed 1299lbs. Max's website said they weigh 805lbs. I'm about 155lbs, so I wonder where the rest of the weight is coming from? I have a 2500lb Warn Winch and a Roll Bar on it, but I don't think that would be enough to make up for the extra ~340lbs over what Max's specs are.

I wouldn't be questioning it, but on their site it says the gross permissible weight in water is 1305lbs. I'm almost at that with just me in it, and i'm a pretty small guy. Usually my wife and kids are in with me when we go riding, so theres another 200+lbs.

Anyone else ever weigh their machines? Maybe the scales were off...but that seems like a lot to be off by.

My cousins Max II weighed about 1170 lbs. Max's website says they are 710lbs. He weighs about 190lbs.

The gross weight may have been taken with the bone stock options. Add to that the 26" tires and big 12" wheels and that alone probably accounted for a lot of the weight difference. You also have a larger motor than the smallest 16HP. Plus figure in the accessories you mentioned and it may be closer to that number. Just guessing here...I don't know that it's 360 lbs difference

Don't make me do another montage of a certain green Max IV that's used to wimpy PA mud stuck in some of this nasty NC mud Mr. helicopter re-doer extraordinaire.

My Attex Truck and my Springer were both just under 700 lbs. I was a bit surprised by the weight of the springer because the kit should have put it closer to 900 lbs.

I did have them weighed on a scale in a stone quarry so I don't know how accurate the scale might be weighing something as light as an Attex.

My uncle is a tractor puller, 9000lb superstock class. Direction of tread is not very important. The leading edge of the tread bars needs to be sharp. They cut them back when they start to round off.
