Me and my dads 6x6 is having a shocking issue everytime we try to turn the key on or off or when someone touches the roll bar. The battery is grounded in two places on the frame and my dad added an extra ground to where the key is and it is still shocking us. Anyone know what to do because this problem is causing our battery to be drained quickly and not to be able to hold a decent charge anymore?

Is your 6x6 powered by a 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine. You may have wired the charging system directly out of the engine without connecting to a rectifier. The charging system on all the small engines are alternating current. Or you have somehow connected the high voltage side of the coils to the ignition switch.Acta non verba

Only does it with the switch or if we have the rollbar in
And only does it sometime
The last time it did it was turning it off and it took the batter down as to not have the power to start it .( A long walk later)charged the batter and it started right up and shut it off no trouble
This starting to be a PAIN

I've seen a couple rare cases of the battery voltage "Bleeding through the case". (Especially if the battery is sitting in a battery tray with water in it.) Disconnect the negative cable and use a voltmeter to check it. Just touch one lead to the positive terminal of the battery and the other to to any chassis ground. ANY reading at all means a bleed. Also try opposite. 1 lead to neg terminal on battery and other to chassis ground. Also check to see is any of your spark plug wires have rubbed through somewhere behind the cooling shroud. And last, (this may sound corny, but it has helped me many times) run the engine at night with the lights off and look for any arking/sparking anywhere. If all that checks out, I'd start looking at the rectifier. Are you sure the rollbar isn't pinching a wire somewhere when you have it installed?Last edited by Jeff t-boss; 08-21-2010, 12:48 AM.It's all just nuts and bolts.
