  • Problem with my front axle on max ll

    Just bought it like this today. I'm not sure how i should fix it. What would be the best thing to do here to fix it. DSCF9020.jpgDSCF9017.jpg

    That would be a first generation MaxII i assume !! it apears as though the outer brg has let go and your axle has slid outward and off the inner pin bushing , your chain must be way out of alignment too no ?? you will likely have to change the outer brg, while you are at it ,those bushings have no way of greasing them so you'll want to drill through the shaft and right through the bushing and install a grease nipple for future

      Axel/bearrings help please

      to start with how do i jack up my max ll so i can work on it? how to and what do i need to fix here in these pics. I'm new to this. I'm not sure if i need an inner or outer bearing or both and some one said i need a locking one? i need to get this fixed by Friday. o its a 1985 max ll . and thanks for any advice u all can give.\

        You will need a bronze insert bearing that goes into the end of the axle and rides on the support rod. Also the axle end seems to be pushed outward. Does the front spocket align with the middle sproket? How much of the support rod is inside of the axle?

          The sprockets r lined up, and maybe about 1/4 inch is over the rod. some one else thinks i need to replace axle and all. what do u think?

            The bronze bushing should be a press/tap fit into the end of the axle and It could be to worn too much to hold the bushing. I would also think that you need more than 1/4 inch of the rod supporting the end of the axle, I'm thinking more like 3/4". How does it look compared to the other axles? Does it apper to shorter, like it could've been cut or worn off on the end. I want to think that the bronze bushing is 1" long, so the axle end should be counter-bored atleast that much. I would remove both the left and right front axles and compare them to each other.
