  • new max 2 for me!

hey all. so now in addition to my argo conquest 8x8. i am now the proud owner if a 1996 max 2. with the wimpy 14hp engine :P "wheres that 1200cc snowmobile engine!" ! she seems to need only a minor thing which imma search for in a bit. need to tighten the front left chain. its loose and falls off the sprocket! but figured i'd share my new toy with everyone i also must admit. this thing seems a lot harder to drive then my argo LOL. feel free to comment. any input on on what to look for would be appreciated

It may seem harder to drive, but it really isn't. It's just different from what you're used, too. You'll have it figured out in no time. Actually the 14 hp scoots pretty good . I had one in the SS before he got springered & ran it for a little while after it was springered. Congratulations.

any time I buy a used machine I don't even bother trying to start them till I have pulled and overhauled the carbs and new plugs, points , oil, filters, flush fuel line and tank etc. I have yet to do one and find that it didn't need it!

so i ripped the carb apart today. nothing seems wrong. floats are not stuck. but it won't refill the gas in the floats. and stalls once the gas i poor in runs out. is there a fix for this or do i just get a new carb? it runs with gas poored in. gas makes it to the carb. checked that cleaned out all hoses ect. just don't seem to enter the carb where the needle covers the hole where the gas comes in?

I think it could be one of two things, either something is wrong with your fuel pump or your floats aren't working correctly because of being incorrectly installed or a float needle getting jammed in the seat. You guys could argue this but this method has always worked for me to check my float operation. Now making sure that all the gas is drained out of the carb (super important) you can take a scrap piece of fuel hose (preferably one that is clean) put one end on the fuel inlet, put the other end in your mouth and blow through it. If you can easily blow through it then you know it opens. then I tip the carburetor upside down and if you cant blow through it, tells you it's closed. If one of the other doesn't work you know right then and there you have a problem and you can deal with it then instead of putting it on, filling it with gas and hoping it works right. I know I may get some flak for my advice and someone may even say that I am new to 6x6s but I have had enough POS dirt bikes and ATC"S to last me a lifetime and have used this method on every one of them with success.
