  • Max II paint spray can type.

I tried and loosing grounds in trying to match my Max II paint (brown) the previous owner tried his como paint works and it did not go too good. Even the roll bar is como'ed.
I was able to removed it from the roll bar easy enough but the majority of the body needs at least two cans of spray brown paint but I can not find a match at the auto store outlet. I am sanding now do I need to prime first to make the brown stay? Thanks for the help.

Hi dually, if you will search the site for "paint" and "HDPE" you will see a lot of posts on this topic already. Basically nothing sticks to HDPE and your best bet is to pressure wash the old paint off and then look in the how-to section for how to bring the shine back to HDPE using a heat gun. Probably not what you wanted to hear but it will save you some headache in the long run.

      paint

I kinda had that notion that no paint will hold. I have not primer it yet. I will check the site for the fix on the paint works. Thanks.

Actually, there IS hope. There's a primer sold at auto paint stores called flexible body part primer, as a generic term. My local WalMart had a similar product once called Bulldog Adhesion Promoter. Both are made for priming fexible plastic body parts. I dunno how it will do on a large product like a Max, but I use it all the time on plastic toys & the like. (I collect 12" action figures as well as my childhood fav, Major Matt Mason, & many of their vehicles /accs. are that soft, impossible-to-paint 'milk jug plastic'). Anyway, since I've begun using this clear primer years ago, I can handle these like anything else, including using masking tape with no peeling of the paint. I have used it on my Honda Big Red to touch up a fender & haven't seen any problems since, either. Might be worth a try.

Famvburg, Ive tried it all and I can tell you (sorry to say) nothing works.. I even tried the the rubber undercoating and fusion paint and it didnt stick. I used the bulldog adhision sanded it, heated it , acid . This fall Im putting on camo sheets Camoclad Outlet Camo4u - Home of the Camoclad Outlet, Camo Bug Shields, Camo Truck Kits, Camo Wraps, Camoclad Vinyl Accent Kits
Im hopping it works and the guy says it will. That might be something you can look at.It will be in Oct. when I put it on.Ive been working on my Max II for a long long time HOGWILD. Ive done a lot of mods to it and I know with the camo and rollcage is whats going to make it stick out.
