i have a maxll the exhaust exits over the rear wheel on the left side . how can i keep the pipe out of the water and quiet it down to get ready for hunting season.

What year is your max II? If it has the newer style body with the flat rear engine cover then you can install a factory internal muffler that is really quiet. If it's not the newer style you could try changing the muffler for a different one. As for the pipe being in the water that's not a big deal. The worst part about having the pipe where it is; when you are in and out of mud holes all day long it will sometimes start to clog up with mud but you can usually hear it when it starts to happen. Then you have to get out with a screwdriver and chisel it away.

If it is a 2 stroke motor then it is probably a couple of decades old and the engine cover on the back of your Max shouldn't be flat unless you replaced the upper body with a new one. This is what I mean by a flat engine cover:

I was assuming you had a newer four stroke max. Being that it's 2 stroke you will probably have a hard time finding any muffler to quieten it down without negatively affecting performance unless your current muffler is rusted and just has holes in it.
