  • Bearing cage?????

My dealer tells me in order to run tracks on my max 4 I have to install bearing cages. Can someone explain to me what bearing cages are and what they do? Thanks. On another note, I'm loving my 6x6. What a blast...

brg cages put a third brg out right behind the hub ,they give extra support and strength to the axle to handle the tracks, you also need hub extentions to get the tires out away from the tub to give clearence for the tracks, if you buy the track kit from the dealer it comes with the tracks ,hub extentions and brg cage rail, tracks make a world of difference if you find yourself in swampy/sloppy ground alot
He who has not cruised the back country in a 6x6 , has not lived life to it's fullest
A Mans level of mechanical education directly corresponds to the level pain suffered while getting it

Thanks for the response. How hard is it to install them?

They are not hard to install. Hardest part is pulling the axle out but its pretty easy. Worse part is running into a set screw or bolt or sprocket that dont want to come off.
