  • Max IV no power at times

I have a 98 and after I slow down and make a turn then go back to full throttle it doesn't have all of it's power. If I let off the throttle and slow down to idle then take back off it runs at full power. The engine is running at full rpm it just doesn't go. It doesn't pull one way or the other like the brake is still engaged. It's like the clutch isnt engaged fully. Any ideas or what to look for? Thanks for the help.

your secondary clutch might be sticking open. try spraying some dry graphite (lock lube from any auto parts store) in the secondary. i spray mine on the shaft that the spring wraps around, and also on the shaft between the moving sheves. don't worry if you get some on the clutch faces, i haven't found it to cause any major belt slipping

First make sure that you are pushing forward all the way on the sticks. That comment you made about slowing down and turning made me think that the transmission was not engaged fully. Sometimes the springs dont hold the sticks forward all the way.

If that doesnt help then have someone watch the clutches as you drive around. Take the engine cover off and let them ride in the back seat watching both to make sure they are fully engaging.

Clutch sticking sounds possible. I have noticed when accelerating it's almost like you can feel the clutch engaging in stages. I'll lube it when I get home and try it. I have road watching the clutch and thought it was but I'll double check. Thanks

Another helpful response! The clutch was not fully engaging and pushing the sticks all the way forward both made a big difference. Still does it sometimes but I'm sure it will take the lube some time to work in. Thanks again guys for everything.
