Hey Folk's; How's everything in wheeler world? Too much going on! Family issues and such, but all that beside, I have a Max question I found an early Max II close to my house, close minus engine, thats the easy part. My question is were Maxes always made of poly or were the early years made of abs also? 2nd. question is what year did Max go to the use of one size chain? My friend Richie (06 Chops) had a 73 Max II and it had 3 different chains on it 40,50 and 60. Thanks Brian,
the early ones were abs, and the early poly ones, the lower tub was molded around the front tire. i'm not sure what year they eliminated the #40 chain on the final drive, but even a new one uses #60 from the jackshaft to the center axle, and #50 on everything else

the oldie Maxs were PVC or ABS ( i dont remember)and the new are HDPE poly, Maxs still use 2 sizes of chain depending on the model , new Max II use #50 from trani to jackshft, then 60 from jackshaft to center shaft and 50 on all the axles , i think it was back in the late 70s when RI got rid of the #40 on the front axles and went to 50 , Max IVs use #50 throughout and Buffalo use 50 on the axles and trani but 60 on the jackshft , just like the new Max II,,,, Robinhood02 showed me his Buffalos that have been converted to 60 throughout (except trani) and it looks sweet
