i have a buffalo truck and in the water i can only get 2 mph. do i need to change the sprocket size on the t-20 to get more speed? i already have the 26" tires. on land i can only go 18 mph. Tim

2mph on water is common but it does depend on the machine and tire clearance. I wonder if the buffalo was gear lower for utility reasons or maybe your throttle isn't opening all the way? Maybe someone with a max can count there teeth for you to compare.

it is geared for working on land with a top end of 18 mph. has anyone ever taken throttle and right to the carb to get more speed?
if can only go 18 mph. the max II can go 35 mph. then the tires in the water would go twice the speed. that's why i asked about changing the sprocket size on the t-20.

hi timothy if u gear up u might get more speed but u also might lugg it when u load it . but if u neaver load it u can gear it higer like the max IV . my max II will run 26 27 mph with some mods most 4 strokes stock run 25 max our IV runns 23 mph . give jay at rec a call about gearing up . he will know witch way to go with it , robbie

I have the 26" Goodyears on my stock gear 1997 MaxIV, weighing in at about 1200lbs with the Max, steel racks, winch, lights, tools and me.
My GPS says my ground speed on land is 19mph on the flats with a 18hp B&S V-twin at 3600rpm.
I never checked the GPS in the water, next time I will.
You can see in the videos that were shot at Busco in October 2013, my Max is faster than most on the water and that's due to the Goodyears.
Plenty fast to get me in trouble, on land or sea.
