I'm working on a maxx 2 that has a couple problems. First problem is the transmission.. It will go into reverse and works fine, you go to put it in forward and all it does is grind, will not go in gear.. Second problem, on the coils or armatures whatever u want to call them (its a briggs 14hp twin) if you have the grounding lead hooked to both only one will fire, but if u hook to neither both will fire, but you have to unplug the spark plug wire to kill it.. Any suggestions please??

replace the kill wire between the coils, one of the diodes in it is burned out. they are around $11 from briggs
will it go into forward with the engine off? on a stock max you will need to pull the steering sticks back before you shift into forward. they are held forward by springs, so if you try to shift into forward without pulling them back, the machine will be trying to take off before it is in gear and you will get the grind. if that doesn't get you going, pull the diamond shifters out of the trans and inspect their condition.Last edited by racerone3; 10-31-2010, 01:13 PM.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

thanks for posting that Jim, I should have been more specific in my comment about the diamond shifters... sometimes I assume people know what I'm talking aboutA well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
