I recently got an old max to fix up. Is there any way to tell what year it is with the absence of serial numbers? there are no plates or numbers on this of any kind. It came with the JLO Rockwell L297.

Brock, you may be able to find a serial number on the engine and look up the year it was manufactured to get a rough idea. I split your thread up a little and moved your JLO question to its own thread in the engine forum here: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/engin...-question.html
There was nothing wrong with where it was at, combined with your other question, but hopefully it will get more exposure there and perhaps an answer from someone that doesn't frequent the Max forum.Last edited by Mike; 11-01-2010, 08:11 PM.

Larry W told me a trick a while back. on most of the old ones, there is a stamp on the cover of the engine clutch with the year it was made. that should get you within a year or 2 of the age of your machine. you can see the tag in the red circle in the attached picAttached FilesLast edited by racerone3; 11-01-2010, 08:24 PM.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
